Unit 225 Board Meeting Minutes
This meeting was held virtually. Eight directors were present: Jo Ellen Wade, Rathnam, Carol Kinsey, Susan Ford, Phyllis Alvarez, John Hamilton, Mary Ramsey and Tom Spradlin. Also, Paul Cuneo, District 16 Director, was present for part of the meeting.
The meeting was called to order at 9:30 AM. Paul Cuneo explained that the ACBL board of directors is being reduced from 25 to 13 members, so we will elect regional, rather than district, directors. Our region is being formed by District 16 plus one other district. This reorganization is pertinent to elections only, nothing else will change. Each of the current Unit 225 directors will get one vote for regional director, beginning August 15 in an online election. Paul is a candidate for regional director and asked for our votes.
In questions from the directors, Paul confirmed that one can serve on our board while living in the territory of a different unit. Also, Paul emphasized the importance of personal contacts in trying to gain new members.
After Paul left the meeting, directors approved the minutes of the June meeting as drafted, and approved the treasurer’s report for June. The Mini-McKenney and Ace of Clubs Awards for 2020 have been posted on the website, but we will present these awards personally at the August annual meeting. Also at that meeting we will recognize Life Master achievements for 2020, holding the 2021 achievements for the December meeting. Carol has emailed the unit membership with an announcement of the August 14 annual meeting.
