Unit 225 Board Meeting Minutes
This meeting was again held virtually. Nine directors were present: Jo Ellen Wade, Linda Harrison, Rathnam, Carol Kinsey, Susan Ford, John Hamilton, Phyllis Alvarez, Mary Ramsey and Tom Spradlin were in attendance. The meeting was called to order at 11:00AM. With one modification, the Board approved the minutes for the October 16 meeting, which had been circulated previously. Also, the Board approved the treasurer’s report for October.
There are 2 nominations for the District 16 Star Award. Carol Kinsey had nominated Charles Ford, and Linda Harrison had nominated Lisa Looney. After discussion, the Board agreed unanimously to confer the District 16 Star Award to Charles Ford, based on his long history of supporting bridge. Carol Kinsey agreed to update her nomination with new information from Susan Ford, and Susan will provide a photo for the award. The Board also agreed unanimously to confer the Goodwill Award on Lisa Looney, based on Linda’s nomination.
There is still no update on the reopening of the Senior Citizens Center in Tyler, so it is still unknown when unit games might resume. We will need ACBL clearance to resume the unit games, and Jo Ellen Wade will take up contact with ACBL at the appropriate time.
To the best of anyone’s knowledge, nobody from our unit participated in the Educator Quick Start Program from ACBL. At the end of the month Phyllis Alvarez will notify ACBL that we have had no activity in this regard.
The Gun Barrel club is closing in December, and the unit has been offered the opportunity to purchase some of that club’s equipment. The Board sees no reason to purchase anything other than perhaps the 18 Bridgemates that the club owns, and the Board agreed unanimously to authorize Sandy O’Bannon to purchase them for the unit at a maximum price of $75 each. The club’s server is to be returned to the unit. Rathnam agreed to discuss this decision with Sandy O’Bannon.
Susan Ford reported that the Scorecard is apparently not being issued, and that therefore we should not be paying for it.
